L'interconnessione dei modelli dei componenti consente di costruire modelli di sistemi di controllo. Il sistema di controllo può essere concettualizzato come un diagramma a blocchi contenente più componenti interconnessi, come un impianto e un controller collegati in una configurazione di feedback. Utilizzando i comandi aritmetici o di interconnessione del modello, i modelli di ciascuno di questi componenti vengono abbinati in un unico modello che rappresenta l'intero diagramma a blocchi.
