Description

TILMedia is a library for calculating thermophysical substance properties of incompressible liquids, ideal gases, and real fluids with a vapor liquid equilibrium (VLE). It is also possible to compose mixtures that can be used for simulations with time-varying mass fractions. Thermodynamic properties such as pressure, temperature, and enthalpy, as well as transport properties like viscosity or thermal conductivity, can be calculated depending on known values with the help of equations of state and functions.

The thermophysical properties of a variety of different substances are available. You may select substance data from different sources for your calculation:

  • TLK developments: 60 substances
  • NIST Standard Reference Database REFPROP: 208 substances
  • VDI Heat Atlas: 275 substances
  • VDI-Guideline 4670: 10 substances
  • NASA Glenn Coefficients: 2024 substances
  • External library CoolProp: 114 substances

The properties that are calculated using our own implementations of equations of state are optimized for fast transient simulations. All available substances are listed in the TILMedia documentation. Two separate TILMedia interfaces are available for MATLAB® and Simulink®. A combined installation of TILMedia for MATLAB and TILMedia for Simulink is possible.

After installation, MATLAB users will have four new classes and Simulink users will have a new library blockset with four categories:

  • Gas
  • Liquid
  • MoistAir
  • VLEFluid

MATLAB code examples and Simulink test models for each substance category are included.
