Developing IoT Hardware Using a Model-Based Design Methodology: Practical Problems and Creative Solutions
Dr. Ioannis Sarris, u-blox
At u-blox, Internet of Things (IoT) hardware is developed using Model-Based Design. This methodology involves defining a set of requirements and specifications, based on which a detailed architecture of the target system is designed. This is then used as a specification for the low-level (software and hardware) implementation but also as a “golden reference” verification platform throughout all phases of the development.
This presentation shows how MATLAB® can be used in the core of such a development methodology. Key features of the reference design such as sample-based processing for handling feedback loops and algorithm acceleration are presented as ways for improving the design’s insight and efficiency. Advanced validation methods for integrating developed hardware and test equipment for hardware-in-the-loop simulations are also discussed.
