Variable Acoustic Resistance

R2026b

Linear variable resistor in acoustic systems

  • Variable Acoustic Resistance block

Libraries:
Simscape Acoustics / Acoustic Elements

Description

Add-On Required: This feature requires the Simscape Acoustics add-on.

The Variable Acoustic Resistor block models a linear variable resistor using the equation

P=U⋅R

where:

  • P is pressure.

  • U is the volume velocity.

  • R is resistance, determined by the signal value at the control port.

The conserving acoustic ports + and - correspond to the positive and negative terminals of the block, respectively. R is a physical signal input port that controls the resistance value. The volume velocity is positive if it flows from positive to negative. The pressure across the block is equal to the difference between the pressure at the positive and the negative terminal, P(+) – P(-).

Ports

Input

expand all

Input physical signal that specifies the resistance value. The resistance value must be nonnegative.

Conserving

expand all

Acoustic conserving port associated with the positive terminal.

Acoustic conserving port associated with the negative terminal.
