Matlab 2013b won't launch after activation

I have downloaded Matlab 2013b for Mac IOS and installed and activated it which all seems fine but when I try to launch it I just get the activation wizard again. I am not getting any error messages.

It's often best to contact MathWorks support for installation issues.

I had the same problem after converting from the free 30-day trial to an officially purchased student license. I called the help number (508-647-7000) and they walked me through deleting the trial license and making sure Matlab went to the newly purchased license. It took all of 5 minutes and I'm up and running.
