Please find system requirements here
The latest MATLAB version for UNIX was R2009b (MATLAB 7.9), but for Solaris 10.
I would say the latest AIX version was R13 (MATLAB 6.5) from 2002 - 12 years ago.
From all I know, even if you get MATLAB installed, it will be substantially slower. My recommendation is to get in touch with MathWorks Sales and Support to optimize what you want to achieve.
