How can i find the asymmetry of a region?

Hello
how can I decide that a region of interest is symmetric or asymmetric along principal axis, and symmetry between opposite slices of lesion.

I think one of the image moments would tell you that. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_moment
