hi,To visualize a 3D function A(x,y,z), I used the following code to observe a z-slice at z=z0: imagesc(A(:,:,z0)); I'm wondering if there is a way to directly visualize the entire 3D picture?
Thanks,

There are methods using e.g.
doc surf
doc slice
that you can look at multi-dimensional data with, but it depends what you mean by visualise the entire 3d picture. Clearly in any such visualisation parts of it would be hidden from view unless you wish to project it onto 2d.

MATLAB does not have comprehensive volume visualization capabilities. About all you can do are isosurfaces and cutaway views. To get a true volumetric rendering you'd need to use a program built for that such as Avizo or Amira or VolView
