I recently installed fixed point designer tool for the version MATLAB R2010b SP2. Upon checking for the tool installation, it shows fixed point tool is included as shown in attachment. But when i simulate my model, it shows error as shown:

ERROR MESSAGE : 'untitled/Constant' requested use of data type 'sfix16_En14'. Use of this data type requires a fixed-point license, but license checkout failed. To use this model without a fixed-point license, select "Fixed-Point Tool" under "Fixed-Point" from the model's Tools menu. Select the root model in Model Hierarchy. Set "Logging mode" to be "Force off", "Data type override" to be "Double" and "Data type override applies to" to be "All numeric types". This replaces most uses of fixed-point data types with floating-point doubles. In rare cases, a few attempts to use restricted data types may still exist. Reconfiguring to use floating-point types and/or inserting Typecasts is necessary in these cases.
WHAT COULD BE THE POSSIBLE REASON

It might be related to product name and structure changes. I assume you purchased a new product, but want to use the older release. I suggest contacting installation support.

Thanks for the response. But while the product was ordered, it was clearly mentioned that it was for the version " MATLAB R2010B SP2 " . So the product purchased should not have any problem with the version. So what is the next step I have to do to fix this ?
When ordering a product you always get the latest version by default, but can download and install older versions. For some products, there were changes that me need a manual license key for you. I am not to deep into that, that is why I said "I suggest contacting installation support". That is your next step.
Hi Andreas , I have now understood the issue. From R2013a , "Fixed point designer " merges both ' fixed point tool box' and 'simulink fixed point'. Actually I had requested for ' fixed point designer' , but unfortunately MathWorks has provided with only, fixed point tool box.!! Without "Simulink fixed point" I wont be able to simulate my models. That is why I was getting those errors. So I should get installed with ' Fixed Point Designer ' which will include both of them and my issue will be resolved. As you mentioned, it was a issue of product name. Thank you once again.
Regards, Sachin

but the sad thing is, the fixed-point designer is not free to install! you have to buy it separately even though you already owned the Matlab lisence! :-(

There are over 70 different extra-cost add-on products for MATLAB that not everyone needs. In order to be able to afford to include them all in a single license, Mathworks would need to charge notably more for the basic license.
You will find that Wolfram (Mathematica) has 7 additional-cost products; Maplesoft (Maple) has about 18 additonal-cost products.
