How to have a GUI interface to ask users to input variables and then show a 3D surface based on their inputs?

Hi guys,
I have no idea how to do this. I love the graphs I can make with matlab. But I would love to generate graphs based on user input. I have like 3 or so inputs for constants that are part of a formula, which then gets graphed. Is there a way to:
1) Get user input from a GUI-interface? 2) Display the graph that is produced on that same GUI-interface?
Thank you

1. I've found this tutorials very useful: http://matlabgeeks.com/category/tips-tutorials/gui/ http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/creating_guis/gui-that-accepts-parameters-and-generates-plots.html - this one seems really similar to your task.

Unless you compile the program to a standalone then You'll always need to have Matlab open if you plan to use the Matlab Client to do the processing.
