We recently purchased a new license that has extra toolboxes on it. Can I use 2014b version with that specific license with the new toolboxes, or do I have to use 2015?

Just recently purchased a license with an array of new toolboxes for matlab. Can I use this license with 2014b or do I need to use the newest version to have access to these features?

You may have to install the latest, greatest version, unless you can work out some kind of deal with your Mathworks sales person to create an obsolete package for you.

Answer assuming it is a professional version:
While it is recommended to benefit from the latest release, you can also install older releases. Also if you purchased new toolboxes!
You can even install R2014b and R2015b in parallel as you want to test existing code and models before you migrate to R2015b.

To expand on this:
Asset Administrators and Technical Contacts for a license can use the License Center to download any version from about R13 up to the latest version that was covered by their license and whatever SMS (Software Maintenance Service) that has been paid for. Your payment for a license also entitles you to use any previous version of the same product. Note that as there have been changes in the license key formats over the years, you might need to have Technical Support issue you an additional license key.
