Why does MATLAB freeze when I try to change the layout

I downloaded MATLAB on my mac ios device. When I open MATLAB, only the workspace appears. If I try to change it to the default layout or any of the other layout it freezes. I reinstalled it and it's still happening.

Can you open the MATLAB without jvm and check whether you are able to get the command window of matlab.

Steps to open the MATLAB without jvm:

• In the terminal window, copy the location of matlab file followed by -nojvm
• Since you are using Mac OS, the location of matlab.exe has to be mentioned fully in the terminal window.
