Unbalance operation of induction motor with DC Generator
Versione 1.0.0 (41,4 KB) da

induction motor experiences unbalanced input voltages or loads, which can have significant effects on the performance of both machines.
What Is Unbalanced Operation?
Unbalanced operation can occur in two major ways:
- Unbalanced Supply to the Induction Motor
- One or more phases of the AC supply have different voltages or are missing.
- Common in weak grids or during faults.
- Unbalanced Mechanical or Electrical Load on the DC Generator
- Mechanical load on the shaft may not be uniform.
- Uneven or fluctuating DC load affects the shaft torque, reflecting back to the motor
Effects of Unbalanced Supply on the Induction Motor
- Increased Current in One or More Phases→ Causes overheating and insulation stress.
- Negative Sequence Currents→ Produces a counter-rotating magnetic field, reducing torque and increasing losses.
- Reduced Efficiency and Torque Output
- Vibration and Noise→ Due to torque pulsations.
- Excessive Heating in the Rotor→ Can lead to premature failure.
