Advantages
  • Very fast response to load changes
  • Simple implementation
  • No need for precise timing or duty cycle calculation
  • Naturally limits the switching frequency
Disadvantages
  • Variable switching frequency (not good for EMI-sensitive applications)
  • May produce more ripple compared to PWM
