The output voltage is regulated using a nonlinear control technique
Sliding Mode Control (SMC) Overview
SMC is a nonlinear control method where the system dynamics are forced to “slide” along a defined surface (called the sliding surface) toward the desired operating point.
Key characteristics:
- High robustness to parameter variations and disturbances
- Fast dynamic response
- Suitable for power converters with nonlinearity and uncertainty
Structure of the Control Loop
- Reference Voltage (Vref): Desired output voltage.
- Output Voltage Feedback (Vo): Measured actual output.
- Error Calculation (Vref - Vo): Used to determine system deviation.
- Sliding Surface (s): Typically defined as
