Two Main Control Methods
1. Armature Control
  • Varies voltage applied to the armature.
  • Keeps field current constant.
  • Controls speed in the normal operating range.
2. Field Control
  • Keeps armature voltage constant.
  • Varies field current to adjust flux (Φ).
  • Used for extending speed range beyond base speed (field weakening).
