This project shows how a single-phase AC–AC cycloconverter using thyristors can convert a 50 Hz input into lower frequencies to control an induction motor’s speed. The goal is to visualize how motor speed changes when the supply frequency is varied.
Using the synchronous speed formula Ns=120f / P
So for F=50Hz and P=6 , Ns = 120*50 /6 = 1000rpm
Now due to cycloconverter frequency is 25Hz so ,Ns=120*25 /6= 500rpm
The simulation clearly demonstrates this effect, making it easy to understand frequency-based speed control in AC machines. By observing the motor’s response to different output frequencies, the model clearly illustrates how cycloconverters enable variable-speed operation in AC machines.
