Edge-emitting laser's mirror heating (surface recombination)
This function computes heat power density [Watt over m^2 or m^3] generated in the vicinity of mirror of the edge-emitting laser. The heat (versus pumping current [A]) is generated due to surface recombination. Note that you can obtain the result according to three versions.
The parameter version = 1, 2 or 3 specifies the region, where the heat is generated.
1 - surface of rectangle - joint of the active layer and the mirror, as described in [G. Chen and C.L. Tien, (1993), J. Appl. Phys., vol. 74, p. 2167-2174], result in [W/m^2]
2 - surface of rectangle - slice of active layer (in this case infinitely thin) reaching the distance of carrier diffusion length deep into resonator, as described in [M. Szymański, A. Kozlowska, A. Maląg, P. Hoser, (2020), Int. J. Numer. Model. El., DOI: 10.1002/jnm.2745], result in [W/m^2]
3 - volume of cuboid with the base of rectangle from version 1 and height of carrier diffusion length deep into resonator, can be used in FEM modeling as in [Mukherjee J, McInerney J.G., (2007), IEEE J Sel Topics Quantum Electron., 13:1180], result in [W/m^3].
