plotDirectivity

R2026b

Plot directivity of phased array

Since R2026b

    Description

    plotDirectivity(obj) plots the phased array directivity at 10 GHz as a function of number of elements. To use a different frequency for the plot, specify the Frequency name-value argument.

    plotDirectivity(___,Name=Value) plots directivity based on the plot type specified using one or more name-value arguments.

    Create a hexagonal phased array of conical horn antennas and set the expected array gain to 25 dBi.

    p = phasedArrayCalculator(RadiatingElement="conicalhorn",ArrayGain=25)
    p =
      phasedArrayCalculator with properties:

                     Lattice: 'square'
            RadiatingElement: 'conicalhorn'
                   ArrayGain: 25
           ElementEfficiency: 100

    Plot directivity of the array with square and circular apertures at 9.26 GHz.

    figure
    plotDirectivity(p,Type="patterns",Frequency=9.26e9);
    grid on

    Figure contains an axes object. The axes object with title Directivity Patterns (@ 9.260000e+00 GHz), xlabel Elevation Angle (°), ylabel Directivity (dBi) contains 2 objects of type line. These objects represent Square Aperture, Circular Aperture.

    Plot directivity of the array at boresight and 6° scan angle, with reference to the inter-element spacing at 9.26 GHz.

    plotDirectivity(p,Type="spacing",Frequency=9.26e9)
    grid on

    Figure contains an axes object. The axes object with title For Square Lattice (@ 9.260000e+00 GHz), xlabel Element Spacing (m), ylabel Directivity (dBi) contains 4 objects of type line. These objects represent Directivity: Boresight, Directivity: 6° Scan.

    Input Arguments

    collapse all

    Phased array performance parameters, specified as a phasedArrayCalculator object.

    Name-Value Arguments

    collapse all

    Specify optional pairs of arguments as Name1=Value1,...,NameN=ValueN, where Name is the argument name and Value is the corresponding value. Name-value arguments must appear after other arguments, but the order of the pairs does not matter.

    Example: Type="spacing"

    Analysis frequency, specified as a positive scalar. The default analysis frequency is 10 GHz.

    Example: 12e9

    Data Types: double

    Directivity plot type, specified as one of the following strings:

    • "elements" — To plot directivity as a function of number of array elements

    • "patterns" — To plot directivity pattern for square and circular apertures

    • "spacing" — To plot directivity as a function of inter-element spacing

    Example: "spacing"

    Data Types: string
