MATLAB has encountered an internal problem and needs to close

Hello,

if I use an undefined variable, I get the following message.

>> h

Undefined function or variable 'h'.

This is OK! But Matlab shows also the error: "MATLAB has encountered an internal problem and needs to close".

Has anybody an idea to solve the problem?

Daniel, this is not something I've encountered with any regularity. I mean it has certainly happened to me where MATLAB had to close, but it sounds like you are saying that it is reproducible.

I think there are some important questions here:

Is this a new MATLAB installation? Or is this is an existing MATLAB installation that just starting producing this behavior?

If it is a new installation. I would remove it and reinstall.

Also, it may help to know which platform and release you are encountering this on.

This certainly may be something you need to contact technical support for.

Hi Wayne King, this problem is reproducible. Everytime I use an undefined variable crashes Matlab. It is a new installation and this problem occurs every time. I have Matlab already reinstalled, but the problem is the same.

MATLAB Version : 8.1.0.604 (R2013a)

Operating System : Microsoft Windows 8

Processor ID : x86 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7, GenuineIntel

Virtual Machine : Java 1.6.0_17-b04 with Sun Microsystems Inc. Java HotSpot™ Client VM mixed mode

Window System : Version 6.2 (Build 9200)
