How do I abort an operation/calculation (using Mac)?

Just started a too heavy calculation, esc doesn't seem to abort this, how do I stop it?

Control c

In some cases, if you do something really dumb, it will take a while to get the attention of MATLAB. In that case, get some coffee. Relax until it wakes up.

If you did something really obscenely huge by accident, you can always do a force quit on MATLAB. (Like I've never had to do that.)
