Is there any builtin Matlab function to calculate and plot 3-D histogram for the colored image ?

No. I wrote a crude one. It's attached.
You can also look at the color frequency image, in case that's useful for you. It's here: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/28164-color-frequency-image
