How to Create GUI application for morphological operations?

i want to implement the paper "Application for Morphological Image Processing" by Author: Dan Campbell UW-Madison Computer Engineering/Computer Science am attaching that paper. . please help me to create that application. . first i want to know how to create a board with small boxes in gui and for each click, cell/box should fill with black/white.

The links I gave you will enable you to recreate that program in MATLAB. Of course you have to do some programming, but I assume that is okay with you. It has to be, because some 18 year old program is probably not available anymore, and even if the university could find the program, it probably won't be able to run on modern computers.
