friends ,regarding my project work i have to write code for genetic algorithm based path planning .for that where i have to start and study the basics? pls help me

Take the book APPLIED NUMERICAL METHODS USING MATLAB by Won Young Yang, Wenwu Cao, Tae-Sang Chung and John Morris and follow the step by step introduction and examples. Hope this helps.

I like Introduction to Evolutionary Computing by Eiben and Smith. It won't necessarily help you with implementation, but it describes the main aspects of genetic algorithms (and other evolutionary algorithms) in a clear, concise manner.
