Why does my matlab R2014a be so slow in initilization ??

I just installed the matlab 2014a on my computer which uses Microsoft windows 8.1 pro. The matlab started acting very very slow after updating from 2013a. For example, it always takes 30 minutes or more to turn on matlab or open another matlab window. I only see 'Initializing' and then my computer stopped. I am very disappointed.
