So why don't you directly open the file with this application? What is your question? What have you tried so far and which problem occur? Which application are you talking of?

You can use the winopen function on windows to open the file in the default application for this file.

Another way could be tu use something like :

evalc(['!explorer ' my_dir_name_full]);

The system is more direct than evalc('!'), but the latter might be useful, when catching the outputs matters.
