Simulink simulation is too slow

Hi All, I created a Simulink model for a Digital PLL based on the approach described in one of the IEEE papers. The simulation runs very slowly and uses a maximum step size of 3.97E-17. I did refer to the other article and know that none of those factors apply to my model. The profiler did give a couple of suggestions: disabling zero crossing and turning on DecoupledContinuousIntegration. Either of these did not help with the issue. Any suggestions on what I can do to improve the simulation speed? Thanks in advance

Simulation of a PLL (Phase Locking Loop) design can be sometimes difficult as well as time consuming because of the vastly different time scales involved in the design.
Please refer the following article to have a better understanding:
Also, there are certain steps one can follow to speed up the simulation of a model in general. You may go through the following links mentioned below and try to apply the steps mentioned on the model, these steps may help to improve the simulation time.
