Hey everybody,
I just installed Matlab on a 64-Bit Arch-Linux. Sadly I can't make use of it, since my license is not working. I am currently using my University's license, which is the campus license of the RWTH-Aachen (www.rwth-aachen.de).
If I try to run lmstart I get the following error: [tobi@dzata etc]$ /usr/share/matlab/R2011b/etc/lmstart
Checking license file for local hostname and local hostid . . .
/usr/share/matlab/R2011b/etc/lmhostid: line 334: /usr/share/matlab/R2011b/etc/glnxa64/lmhostid: No such file or directory
ping: unknown host dzata
Error: Your host does not match any SERVER line in your license
file. Your local lmhostid(s) are:
Your hostname is: dzata
The SERVER line(s) are:
-----------------------------------------------
SERVER *edited (don't know if that would not be illegal, its the RWTH's license server, which is everywhere claimed working. I got the license.dat from the RWTH)
-----------------------------------------------
Please stop, fix the problem, and try again . . .
Continue to start up license manager? y/[n]
I tried to fix the Problem, but I could not find any useful information.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers,
Tobias

If you came by this error it means that you're trying to install Matlab in connected mode to the server of whoever gave you your license, so you must be connected to the said server in order for your installation to work! Alternatively, you can ask your fournisher to give you an autonomous activation key, and then proceed with the installation by registering to Matlab online, activating your key and then choose login in with a MathWorks Account instead of use a File Installation Key in the fist step of the installer.
