It removes the first element of pz:

pz = [2 3 5 7]

pz = 1×4

2 3 5 7

pz = pz(2:end)

pz = 1×3

3 5 7

For a matrix, it will use linear indexing, and the output will be a vector:

pz = magic(3)

pz = 3×3

8 1 6 3 5 7 4 9 2

pz = pz(2:end)

pz = 1×8

3 4 1 5 9 6 7 2
