how to get character from mouse

I want to get input from mouse for as image. I am working on OCR. imfreehand get input from mouse but at the end it turns out to be a polygon. I couldnot get the desired output. Please help

imfreehand('Closed',false)

to avoid the polygon..

Thank you sir. This is exactly what i want. May I request if you tell me how to increase the width of the line. As it is too thin now.
