How to change the phase center of a subarray in phased array antenna

9 visualizzazioni (ultimi 30 giorni)
Hi , This is Sri. I have been using phased array tool box from quite some time as part of my master thesis. I am working on designing phased array antennas using subarrays. In the documentation I had seen that the phase center of the subarray is located at its geometric center. Now, I would like to know whether is there any way to change the phase center of each subarray as we desire? I am eagerly waiting for your answer.
Best Regards, Sri

Currently the phase center of a subarray cannot be changed. Could you share your use case regarding why you want to change it? As a workaround, I think the change of phase center just adds a constant phase to all the elements. Therefore, if you figure out that constant phase, you can post multiply that phase if you only worry about a single frequency. HTH

Hi Honglei, Thank you for your answer. The use case is since the subarray configuration brings a artifact such as quantization lobes. This effect is limiting the sidelobe level which limits my steering capability of the antenna array. So I am trying to decollimate the quantization lobes by changing the phase center of each subarray randomly to one of the element of the subarray. I hope my use case is clear. Waiting for your reply.
