Help getting started with facial recognition through feature vector analysis.

I am doing a project on facial recognition through feature vector analysis. I knew the concept but i don't know from where i should start and how to start.
If anybody is familar with this or if anybody has this project please send to my mail jalluramesh@gmail.com.can i do this using MATLAB?
