Unable to add functions or properties in App Designer!

Hello,

I am trying to add functions and properties for my GUI inside App Designer, however, it is very spotty. When I connected to lab by remote license, what happens is it adds a code block for the function/property, I attempt to edit the code block, and as soon as I hit save or run, it disappears. Even if I delete the whole code block, as soon as I hit save/run the standard code block reappears. This issue is not happening with callbacks. When I am in the lab, on some .mlapp files it is working fine, and others it is not. It is strange because a remote connection should not make any difference...

Please advise what this may be. I am brand new to this, so perhaps just a rookie overlook somewhere
