How do I use pause multiple times?

I have written a script whose only purpose is to call other scripts. After each script I put expression pause. It works twice, but after the third time the script just stops.I try to press enter or any other key, but nothing will happen. I have to interrupt the execution with ctrl+c, because nothing happens.

If I try to execute the code with breakpoints, everything will work fine, but I want to save those breakpoints for further use.
