Generate Simulink standalone Executables that connects to IO cards (e.g NI)

Hi,
we would like to create a digital twin on an Edge PC (as shown below)
Our idea is to build the system in Simulink/Simscape and generate a a standalone executable. In the executable, it's also able to collect and transfer data from IO cards e.g NI.
Is this possible? or is there a better way to solve this?
