lmplementing EDFA in MATLAB Coding
Mostra commenti meno recenti
I want to implement EDFA characteristics in MATLAB , not simulink. i need to find the EDFA Gain and Noise. i have been searching alot but couldnt able to find proper help, so looking for someone here to help me out. i know some characteristics of EDFA from books like if we have to obtain flat gain we use EDFA but i want to proof it in MATLAB coding. so if someone could help me out i will be highly thankful to u.
Kind regards
Syed Haider

Is this the same meaning of EDFA as in Amir's recent question

Hey, guys. I am also a master student in wdm-pon lab. Hope we discuss the problems in wdm-pon together.

Hey guys, check out the "EDFA Single Pass Gain Calculator" code I just posted, see if it makes sense/gets you started.
This is an analytical solution so it doesn't account for ASE or time-domain modulation. I'll be posting a numerical solution too -- tell me if you want it and I'll upload it faster.
By the way a couple papers to try to get are:
- C. Barnard "Analytical model for rare-earth-doped fiber amplifiers and lasers" (1994)
- A. Bellemare "Continuous-wave silica-based erbium-doped fibre lasers" (2003)
- R. Paschotta "Ytterbium-doped fiber amplifiers" (1997) http://www.orc.org.uk/publications/13xx/1391.pdf
- Morkel and Laming, "Theoretical modeling of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers with excited-state absorption" http://www.orc.soton.ac.uk/publications/04xx/403.pdf
For analytical calculation, Barnard is the best.
For numerical simulation, Bellemare's might be the best for EDFAs; I don't see it openly available without subscription though, so maybe try Morkel & Laming first. Paschotta is good too although you have to change the parameters for EDFA since he works with ytterbium.

Hey I am also finding the same difficulty to write a code of finding gain and noise figure to optimize the performance of EDFA. Please help me out.
