Generating Complex Impulse Noise

I would first like to ask if it is Possible to generate Complex Impulse Noise in Matlab (X+jY, where X is Laplace Distributed and Y is Laplace Distributed and are I.I.D). I read somewhere that the Sum of Two Independent and Identical Laplace Distributed Random Variables is not a Laplace Distribution? I will have to re-look that. In short, has anyone ever implemented this in Matlab. If you have, please explain to me how you achieved this.
