how to store and match results in cell or struc arrays

I am testing randoms path to estimate the shortest path for a number iterations. I want to store each tested path in any array type. After generating a new path, I want to match it from the previous stored paths. If new path is already tested, I just want to skip and generate new path.

I presume a path is represented in some way by a set of parameters.

You store and compare these.

What do they look like?

Are they continuuous paths on a continuum? that is; an infinite number of non-quantized values?

Indices on a graph? eg a finite list of integers?

Are all paths the same length (in number of parameters)?

If not, are different length paths different?

A if else loop with sorting and saving the indices which already tested path into a different variable will work for your case.

Generally speaking, an if else loop is an if statement contained within a for or while loop. Some sample pseudo code that could be applied to your situation would be as follows:

for i = 1:length(pathlist);
    path = pathlist(i);
    if isbetter(path,bestpath);
        bestpath = path;
    else
    
    end
end

'isbetter' is not an actual comparison parameter in Matlab, but without a better example of what you're using to compare the quality of the different paths this is the best I can give.

We can continue to help in really general terms, but it would also be very helpful for us if you could give some sample portion of your code, or a better description of the values and parameters you're working with so we can give a more specific answer.

That is very true. My intention was to write pseudo code that gave a clear correlation between Muhammad's expressed intentions and the structure of the code. Perhaps I could have been more clear with variable names.
