measure event duration in spectrogram

How could one measure the duration of an event in seconds based on spectrogram data and related parameters (nfft, overlap, Fs) ?

I tried the following formula

real duration = [ calculated duration /(1-overlap)*nfft ] * Fs

but it seems something is not exactly right
