Hi Matlab-Experts,
I'm trying to unify several spherical sectors, which are modelled as alphaShapes. I'm using inShape to determine if these volumes do overlap, and if they do, I use alphaShape to generate a unified volume of these spherical sectors to compute their unified volume (see attached figure). Does anyone of you know a possibility to supress the transitional volume in between? I'm aware that I won't be able to supress it completely, but it would be good if that transitional volume would be smaller, since it distorts the unified volume computation. One possibility to make this effect less serious is to decrease the gridsize and also simultaneously the alphaRadius, but that will increase the computational effort a lot and if the alphaRadius is to small (criticalAlpha = 0.5176), the shape gets holey which is something i have to avoid. I would be very thankful for any kind of advice!
Thank you very much
Best regards,
Jens
