Using CFD software through API

This is a specific question about a larger project which I discussed in detail here. At the end I bring up the idea of using the API to create and run a CFD simulation using this. I honestly don't know if this is at all possible. I've never used the Automation protocol, I've never used CFD software, I've never even created a decent API. I'm just trying to put the pieces together and it seems to me that it would be theoretically possible. I'm not asking if I would actually be able to write that code, just if someone could.
