How to convert char array to string array in MATLAB2103b

I know this can be done in newer versions using string(A) but in MATLAB2013b it gives a warning: string is obsolete and will be discontinued. Use char instead. and an error of: Conversion to char from string is not possible

string objects of the type you want were added as of R2016b. You cannot use them in R2013b.
