How to detect fingertips in an Image (I surfed google and found out that I need to use K-curvatur​e,K-means,​Convex -Hull, etc) but the resources I found out are too little informative and it is hard to implement.Can anyone suggest where to start?

Sounds like you have the resources already. I don't have any, and especially any that would be easier than some unknown number of resources that you already looked into. So I suggest that you start trying to understand those. In the future, VisionBib is a better place to look for image processing algorithms than Google. Go here: VisionBib. Perhaps you'll find what you're looking for there. That's all I can offer you.

It may sound stupid but I am lost on how to go about searching (meaning-I want "hand tracking" and I click on "Hand tracking for Gestures" then they are so many authors now where should I go...)

Go to the first one on the list. If that doesn't seem workable, then go to the second one on the list. Repeat until you find one you think will work. I can't say which method to use because every one of those people who wrote up those methods thought that their method was the best available at the time. There is no omnipotent gesture guru out there who can tell you that method XYZ is the best and that you should use that one.

In general, when people have a problem they need to solve, how do you imagine they approach solving it? Do you think they look over existing literature for reasonable methods? Do you think you could do the same thing that everyone else is doing? Good luck with your research.
