R2011a compatibility with Windows 8

Hey all,
Just opened this account because I have a question that isn't easily found through a few hours of googling. I am a student at the University of Florida and I bought a copy of MATLAB for a Mechanical Engineering class in 2011. It is the R2011a version, and I am wondering if I can make it compatible with Windows 8? Is there a software update of some kind that I can download to make it compatible? Or is there a function like in Windows 7 that will allow me to run Windows 8 in an older version to run Windows 7 anyways and just use MATLAB that way?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

hi Kevin,
Before you install Math(c) go to setup, right click on it, and go to "properties" , next choose "Compatibility" and and check :
" Run this program in compatibility mode for :
Windows XP Service Pack 3
Windows XP x64 Edition Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack 2
Windows Vista Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 or R2
Windows 7
You pick one of them, and in case you already installed it, then try the same procedure on Matlab's icon in the Desktop,
I hope this helps .
