How to change the size of matlab checkboxes for different length strings

I have about 260 check boxes in a GUI. Currently, the check boxes only display numbers 1-260, but i would like to add some more information on the checkboxes in the form of a string, ideally, I would like to alter the size of the checkboxes so that the whole string can without being cutoff. How would I go about doing this in a for-loop?
