What multi-objective optimisation algorithm is the multi-objective solver in the global optimisation toolbox based on?

What multi-objective optimisation algorithm is the multi-objective solver in the global optimisation toolbox based on? I have come across comparisons between the algorithm in the MATLAB global optimisation toolbox and other multi-objective solvers. I need more information on the nature of this solver (I think it is based on the NSGA II but I'm not sure why I think this). If an algorithm performs better or worse than the global optimisation toolbox solver is it in effect performing better or worse than a well-documented algorithm or is the global optimisation toolbox solver too far removed from any such algorithms to make these type of conclusions?
