Improper Arguments. Waitbar Error

I have problems using my waitbar. This is the code I want to run:

h = waitbar(0,'uiae');
for file_num = 1:numel(files)
     waitbar(file_num/numel(files),h);
end

but I get the following Error:

Error using waitbar (line 110)
Improper arguments for waitbar.

Error in Analyze_NM__Measurement (line 47)
     waitbar(file_num/numel(files),h);

Caused by:
    Error using getappdata
    Invalid object handle

Even if I run it like this I will get the same Error:

h = waitbar(0,'uiae');
for file_num = 1:numel(files)
     waitbar(0.5,h);
end

Similar uses in other program work just fine. What is my mistake?

I have the same error. Im running the new matlab desktop. not sure if pertains to that version specifically.
