face recognition project help?

Can any one tell me in detail about the face recognition project in matlab,i have selected it as my project. i think there are many methods in which face recognition can be done.I downloaded a document in which the information is given in detail along with the code but when i use a part of code it is showing '*_illegal use of the keyword end'_*_.what can i do to overcome this problem,and also i need to know about setting the call backs for my gui.if any one know the solution to my problem please kindly help me..regards
