how to initiate a table in matlab

I want to initiate a table that i will later add names and numbers in it.

The table will be an array of 12x7

 A = rand(12,7) use this it will generate 12x7 table with random values in it

or you can use zeros(12,7)..if you want to initiate all values with 0
