where is wrong with texlable

Hi, I am using this code

if true
  % xlabel(texlabel('mu1','literal')) 
end

and hope that the string'mu' turns into the greek letter by using 'literal'. But it still just shows the words mu1 on the x axis. Is anyone could tell me what is wrong here? Cheers, Xueqi

xlabel(texlabel('mu1'))
